The Australian Securities and Exchange Commission (ASIC) today announced a survey of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) team, focusing on governance, skills and risk management frameworks and practices throughout the team.

ASIC and Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) have constant concerns about ASX’s ability to maintain stable, safe and durable critical market infrastructure.

ASIC research will be guided by a group of experts who will recommend any deficiencies or deficiencies.

The Regulatory Authority will discontinue its research on the failure of the Ski Settlement December 2024. This event will be part of the broader research.

ASIC will conduct the investigation using existing powers in accordance with Article 794C and 823C of the 2001 companies law to evaluate how ASX complies with its obligations as a license holder and a clearing and settlement license holder.

RBA and ASIC are co-author of the liquidation and licensed settlement facilities and have separate but complementary responsibilities for the licensing and supervision of the CS facilities.

In March 2025, in a joint letter to ASX, ASIC and RBA expressed increasing concern about the management of operational risk, following the incident of the Set -up of the Chess on December 20th.
