
Barclays today announced the appointment of Neel Laungani as the head of Asia -Pacific financial sponsors.
In this role, Mr Laungani will be responsible for the guidance of the franchise of financial sponsors in the region through the origin and execution of transactions, as well as the strategic coverage of key customers in the area. It will support customers, in close cooperation with other coverage and product bankers, to seize new opportunities in areas with the world groups and the bank’s capabilities and strategic commercial offers.
Based in Hong Kong, Neel will report regional to Avinash Thakur, head of Asia’s Investment Banking -Pacific and Functioning with Christian Oberle, a worldwide head of financial sponsors.

Neel Laungani brings almost 29 years of investment banking experience, with a distinguished history of financial sponsors and technology, media and telecommunications (TMT). His career began at Lehman Brothers, where he spent more than 14 years and went up to the CEO and head of TMT at APAC.
He then held senior leadership roles in Credit Suisse, Standard Chartered and Deutsche Bank.
Recently, he served as Managing Director and Head of Financial Sponsors for the APAC at Credit Suisse and as Vice President of TMT’s coverage in the area.
