Alipay+, a worldwide wallet gateway to Ant International, supports Kakao Pay, a South Korean top mobile wallet, in launching a communication payment near the field (NFC) for transactions abroad, through its collaboration with Mastercard.
Kakao Pay becomes one of Alipay +’s first payment partners to introduce convenient and safe “Tap-to-Pay” experiences when users travel abroad.
Through collaboration between Alipay+ and Mastercard, Kakao Pay users can now make NFC payments to over 150 million Mastercard Merchant locations worldwide, including Japan, Southeast Asia, USA, Europe, Oceania and much more. The Alipay+ NFC payment solution complements the existing QR Code of Kakao Pay and the cross -border -based cross -border payments, further enhancing the travel and purchases experience for its users abroad.
NFC payments allow users to simply take advantage of NFC’s Android phone in a Mastercard -free contact terminal. This simplifies cross -border trade, reduces the need to transfer natural payments and ensures the security of transactions through advanced identity and encryption verification. This service is now available in the latest versions of the Kakao Pay app and will be introduced to the Kakaotalk application for Android later in September, with successive development planned for iOS (iPhone) in the future.
“As we do in South Korea, we aim to provide the most convenient and rewarding payment experience abroad,” said Seung Jun Oh, head of the payment team, Kakao Pay. “Kakao Pay becomes an essential travel and payment platform that accompanies users at every moment of their trips abroad and fulfills their needs.”
“People today are expecting payment experiences that are smooth, intuitive and integrated into applications already trusting – such as Kakao Pay,” said Sandeep Malhotra, executive vice president, basic payments, Asia Pacific, Mastercard. “Through this partnership, Mastercard makes payments abroad simpler and safer for Korean users when traveling, instead of thinking about how to pay, they can focus on what is important – feel confident and enjoying the moment, wherever they are in the world.”
“Alipay+ aims to strengthen mobile payment partners, such as Kakao Pay to achieve more markets and providing safe and convenient payment services to users,” said Douglas Fegin, president of Ant International. “With the collaboration with Mastercard, we are expanding to accept digital payment to millions of traders worldwide. Together, we build a more comprehensive and interoperable global ecosystem of payment.”
