Standard Chartered today announced that Roberto Hoornweg was appointed Managing Director, Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB).

Mr Hoornweg, previously co-head, CIB, along with Sunil Kaushal, assumes the role after Sunil’s decision to retire with the bank after 27 years on March 31, 2026.

Mr Hoornweg maintains the supervision of team markets in America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The supervision of ASEAN and South Asia markets, which have previously sat with Sunil, will go to Judy HSU in addition to its responsibilities as Managing Director, Wealth and Retail Banking (WRB) and supervision of the bank’s largest markets. Both Judy and Roberto sit in the team management team.

Roberto Hoornweg has been experienced for over 30 years throughout the banking industry. It joined the Standard Chartered in 2017 as a world leader of financial markets, leading teams that provide some of the largest companies and financial institutions in the world with risk management, trading services, funding and research in fixed income, coins and goods in more than 50 markets. Before joining Standard Chartered, he had superior roles in businesses such as Brevan Howard Asset Management, UBS Investment Bank and Morgan Stanley.
