Visa Inc. (NYSE: v) today presented the Reliable Agent Protocol, creating a fundamental framework for the agency that allows safe communication between AI representatives and traders at every step of a transaction.
The credible agent protocol aims to tackle the unique challenges facing agent -based trade, introducing a new era where AI can seek, compare and pay on behalf of consumers, while ensuring confidence between traders and representatives.
With the liberation of this protocol – developed in collaboration with Cloudflare – Visa reinforces its commitment to support safer and more smooth interactions in the evolving smart payment ecosystem. The reliable agent protocol is currently available at the Visa Developer Center and GitHub.
The credible agent protocol allows approved agents to safely pass critical information to traders. This provides a very necessary framework for identifying credible agents with the intention of trade and distinguishes them by malicious automation and ruthless bots. During the development of this protocol, Visa received insightful feedback from other first partners, such as Adyen, Ant International, Checkout.com, Coinbase, Cybersource, Elavon, Fiserv, Microsoft, Nuvei, Shopify, Stripe and Worldpay.
“We believe that the entire payment ecosystem is responsible for ensuring that sellers can trust AI agents as they trust the best customers and their networks,” said Jack Foretell, head of products and strategy, Visa. “For the past year, we have worked closely with sellers, publishers and partners to ensure that the transactions started by the agent are just as safe with every payment today.
“Ensuring the future of trade is a common responsibility, especially as AI agents are starting to act on behalf of consumers,” said Stephanie Cohen, head of the strategy, Cloudflare. “Our work with Visa for the Protocol of Reliable Agent is a vital step in building the necessary protection for this new ecosystem.”
Built in the fundamental HTTP messaging signature standard and web aligned, both AUTH, the Reliable Agent Protocol allows traders and agents to create confidence using the existing Web infrastructure-with minimal user experience changes (UX) required by websites.
