UBS today announced the appointment of Daniele Magazzeni as Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer.
Mr. Magazzeni brings deep knowledge of AI research as well as expertise in effectively developing and scaling impactful AI solutions. He joins UBS from JP Morgan, where he served as Chief Analytics Officer for both EMEA and the Commercial and Investment Bank, leading the global analytics agenda across markets, banking, payments and securities services. His responsibilities included advancing AI capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation and ensuring strong AI governance.
Prior to that, he was Associate Professor of Artificial Intelligence at King’s College London.
As UBS’s Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, Daniele Magazzeni will lead the firm’s AI strategy with a focus on reshaping business capabilities to enhance the client experience and improve employee productivity. He will also lead the Chief Artificial Intelligence Office, which is responsible for ensuring the efficient development of AI-powered tools and processes at scale, maintaining consistent standards and building a strong technology foundation across the organization.
Mr. Magazzeni will be based in London and report to Mike Dargan, Group Chief Operations and Technology Officer, effective January 1, 2026.
Mike Dargan said:
“Artificial intelligence is a top priority for UBS. I am delighted to welcome Daniele with his experience in integrating artificial intelligence into business processes, driving measurable performance improvements and delivering commercial benefits. As Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer he will further optimize the use of traditional, production and agency artificial intelligence to transform our customers’ capabilities.”
Earlier this year, UBS launched several large-scale transformational AI initiatives, called Big Rocks, designed to have a firm-wide impact and increase the efficiency of processes and systems. The initiatives are already having valuable results. UBS has over 300 live cases and AI-powered tools available to all employees, including M365 Copilot and the in-house AI Assistant Red.
