Coinbase is expanding access to its products in Africa, starting with 20 countries across the continent.
Coinbase’s new partnership with African stablecoin exchange Yellow Card will help usher in the future of money, giving millions of users access to USDC and fast, reliable, cheaper transactions on our decentralized, open L2 base through Coinbase and Yellow Card products.
Coinbase Wallet users in these 20 countries – which represent 52% of the continent’s population – will be able to buy USDC directly in the Coinbase Wallet app starting in February.
Coinbase Wallet users will be able to easily send USDC free of charge on any platform where they can share a link — including messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage and Telegram, and via popular social media apps and email.
On Yellow Card’s platform, users can also buy USDC on Base, benefiting from cheaper payments and transfer via the L2 blockchain as well as easy access to one of the main USD stablecoin offerings.
