Coinbase Business introduces global payments and payment links, enabling businesses to send and receive USDC with low fees, instant settlement and global reach.

These tools simplify vendor payments, eliminate chargebacks, and offer seamless API integrations, enabling businesses to scale efficiently.

Coinbase Business has added two powerful new features – global payments and payment links – making Coinbase Business your all-in-one app for payments and payments in digital dollars.

With the new global payments feature, you can now send USDC, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, to any onchain address or email address, enabling cheaper and more efficient gas-free cross-border payments for recipients on networks like Base. Payments can be funded from platform balances or from a linked bank account.

Seamless contact management makes it easy to store supplier details, reducing the risk of errors and simplifying recurring payments. If your recipient doesn’t have a crypto wallet, they can receive the payment via email, create a Coinbase account for free to claim their money, and easily redeem in their local market.

The accompanying Payouts API enables businesses to automate their payment workflows, enabling on-demand, batch or scheduled payments to suppliers and contractors worldwide.

Collecting payments from customers is now low, instant and global. With payment links, businesses can now create a shared link to request a specific amount in USDC. Customers can then use this link to pay in a seamless gas-free experience that accepts hundreds of wallets such as the Base app, MetaMask and Phantom.

Payments are settled in less than a second on Basis with no network fees, no chargebacks and no additional 3% credit card swipe fees.

For developers, Coinbase’s upcoming Payment Links API enables the dynamic creation of payment links at scale, ideal for collecting payments within an app or e-commerce flow.

How to get started

  • Getting started is simple. Inside your Coinbase business account, go to the new Payments tab.
  • To pay: Select “Pay” to send USDC to an email or crypto address. You can manage vendors and contacts for easy, recurring payments.
  • To get paid: Create a payment link and share it via email, text, QR code, or by embedding a pre-configured Buy button on your website.

The launch of these new features also marks the next phase for Coinbase’s trading solutions. As part of this evolution, Coinbase will merge Coinbase Commerce with Coinbase Business in the coming months.

Coinbase Business will offer robust and comprehensive solutions, which include full custody and redemption capabilities that were not available in the stand-alone Commerce product. Coinbase will be in touch with existing Coinbase Commerce customers regarding next steps.

These new features in Coinbase Business are powered by Coinbase Crypto-as-a-Service (CaaS), Coinbase’s underlying crypto payment and transaction infrastructure.
