David Cohen will complete his term as Deputy Chief Executive of the Commonwealth Bank on 31 December 2023.

In November 2018, Mr. Cohen was appointed to the newly created role of Deputy CEO, which was designed to support the bank’s efforts to simplify its portfolio and increase focus on customer recovery and complaints.

With the recent announcement of the intended sale of CBA’s Indonesian subsidiary, PT Bank Commonwealth, and substantial progress in legacy client recovery programs, the Deputy CEO’s work has been successfully accomplished and the role is therefore no longer required.

Mr Cohen will continue to serve as CBA’s representative on PT Bank Commonwealth’s board during the transition of its sale, and will remain a director of ASB, the Group’s New Zealand banking and wealth management businesses.

David Cohen joined CBA in 2008 and during his 15 years of service has held the roles of Group General Counsel, Group Human Resources Executive, Group Corporate Affairs Executive and Chief Risk Officer.
