Exclusive FNGโ€ฆ FNG has learned that Prodromos Efthimiou, one of the architects of the Cypriot trading products company The Trading Pit, has left the company. Prodromos Efthymiou had served as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of The Trading Pit since the company’s inception in April 2022.

Trading Pit was founded in 2022 and is based in Liechtenstein but is mainly managed from Cyprus. The company is backed by Pinorena Capital, an Estonian-based private equity firm led by fintech entrepreneur Illimar Mattus, and is run day-to-day by CEO Daniela Egli. Pinorena’s other investments include Tickmill and Darwinex. Trading Pit is a multi-asset trading firm committed to redefining trading and investing standards.

Prodromos Efthymiou posted the following note on social media about his departure:

A week ago, I turned the page on an amazing chapter with The Trading Pit.

What started as brainstorming sessions (sometimes even on my flat balcony) quickly turned into a dynamic journey of growth โ€” personally as a husband and father and professionally as #cto and #director of our operations in Cyprus.

In two years of transformation, we have upgraded from a duo to a powerhouse with over 75 dedicated professionals spanning multiple international offices. I was given the invaluable opportunity to operate and then collaborate in various departments, learning from colleagues who were not just teammates but became friends.

In the face of change and unpredictable challenges, I embraced the unknown, taking decisive action and thriving in uncertainty. My tenure strengthened my passion for building from the ground upโ€”refining processes, improving workflows, and enriching the customer experience.

I want to thank Illimar Mattus and Christoph Radecker, whose trust in me laid the foundation for me to start something from scratch and develop it in my field and as a company. With my amazing colleagues, we have set The Trading Pit on a path to continued success in the arena of prop trading.

I’d also like to share some lessons as a C-level junior for others who may be entering the field:

1) Embrace the ๐Ÿ*๐œ๐ค๐-๐ฎ๐ฉ momentsโ€”they’re like free (sometimes expensive) knowledge. People who make bold choices are the same people who will make mistakes, but that’s just part of the game. Recognize them, learn from them and build on them for a better future. Don’t forget that everyone has an opinion, but few make the decisions they need.

2) Hire people not only based on their professional skills but also based on their ๐ฉะตั€๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ข๐ฌ. In crisis situations where things go south or big features are released, people who own the process and feel in charge of the company will take you to the next level. This part is hard to teach.

3) Always hire people smarter than you, especially if you are junior or lack knowledge. ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ž๐ง and learn from them. Don’t be afraid to share your opinion no matter what, even if you’re in a room full of experts. If you don’t share it, it’s like it never happened.

๐ง๐ก๐ญ๐ญ’s ๐ง๐ฑ๐ญ?

I want to shake things up and try new things. I want to collaborate with other enthusiasts, come up with game-changing ideas and ignite the spark for awesome new ideas.

If you’re also a professional dedicated to your craft and what I just mentioned sounds familiar, I’d love to chat. Let’s connect!
