FNG has learned that Mehtap Önder, head of digital prime broker GCEX’s Dubai office, has left the company to join financial super apps provider Fasset, as CEO.

Mehtap Önder joined GCEX in 2022 as London/Copenhagen-based GCEX expanded into the MENA region with the opening of a new office in Dubai. Mehtap was previously one of GCEX founder Lars Holst’s colleagues at institutional broker CFH/Finalto, serving as Regional Director of CFH Turkey (now Finalto) from 2014-2019.

Dubai-based Fasset focuses on the Asian and African markets, allowing its users to manage all digital and real-world financial assets, in the currency of their choice. The company is regulated by the Dubai Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA).

Mehtap posted the following note on social media about her move to Fasset.

I am excited to share that I have joined Fasset as CEO.

What inspired me to take on this role is Fasset’s bold mission to make digital assets accessible in a way that creates a more inclusive, transparent and connected financial future. It’s a vision that resonates deeply with my own belief that real impact happens when innovation meets purpose.

Fasset’s vision to expand across Asia and Africa is not just about growth. it’s about creating meaningful impact in markets that shape the next wave of innovation and create lasting value for the communities we serve.

I’m excited to work alongside an incredible team of visionaries and builders who share the same passion. Together, we will continue to scale Fasset’s presence globally, accelerate institutional adoption, and bring this mission to life in powerful new ways.

Here you must build the future with purpose and lead alongside people who are as passionate about progress as they are about purpose.
