
The London Metal Exchange (LME) today announced the appointment of Stephen “Steve” Higgins as a Non-Executive Director of the Board.

Mr. Higgins has more than four decades of experience in the metals industry, including 34 years with Freeport-McMoRan, where he currently serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Alongside this, he also serves as President of The Copper Club, as a Director of the Board of Directors of the International Copper Association and has been Chairman of the LME Copper Committee for the past five years.
John Williamson, Chairman of the LME, said:

As a widely respected and experienced industry leader, Steve has a wealth of natural market expertise to share and a focus on sustainability that aligns with the Exchange’s current growth plans. Steve Higgins holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Cornell University and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University.
