Marex has launched its emerging markets (EM) credit bureau, designed to meet the demands of today’s liquidity conditions.
The new team combines agency execution with selective risk capital underwriting in sovereign and corporate debt, offering institutional clients a more flexible and insight-driven approach to EM credit.
The desk is led by Aaron Fernandes, Head of European and Asian Emerging Markets, with Matthew Vogel, Head of EM Strategy and Paul Timmons, Senior Trader, supported by a team of experienced professionals who will deliver a desk analyst strategy designed to turn ideas into actionable trades.
“Extending credit is central to creating a full service offering for our clients. EM credit rewards experience, speed and thoughtful use of the balance sheet. Aaron’s team brings exactly that, as well as an analyst product that adds tangible value to our network,” said Paolo Tonucci, Chief Strategist and CEO of Capital Markets, Marex.
Marex’s EM Credit desk is built around adaptive execution, combining best-in-class agency execution with the flexibility to take targeted risks in fast-moving or difficult markets.
Key features:
- Execution that adapts: agency first, with the ability to take targeted risks when markets are thin or time-sensitive
- Trade ideas: trade-focused notes from experienced sovereigns and corporate analysts, with clear theses, levels and next steps
- Cycle-tested experience: a team with deep experience in navigating restructuring, sanctions and pandemic dislocations
- Coordinated delivery: integrated with Marex’s growing global credit footprint, including the LATAM EM office led by Mike Rowe.
In its first phase, Marex is prioritizing higher yielding and special situations opportunities across Emerging Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The strategy will be a content-leading, client-focused business that will deliver fast and thoughtful office analysis across the region.
“EM credit continues to benefit from a high-touch, content-driven approach. Our hybrid model allows us to act as a speedboat in a tanker market that combines agency execution with targeted risk-taking and the ability to extend credit when it makes sense,” said Aaron Fernandes, Head of European and Asian Emerging Markets, Marex.
EM Credit expands Marex’s multi-asset toolbox so clients can act with a coordinated partner.
