Mastercard today announced that Jon Huntsman will join as Vice President and President, Strategic Growth, effective April 15.
The former US Ambassador and Governor will lead efforts focused on expanding commercial partnerships with governments and public sector institutions, while advancing the company’s inclusive agenda for development, philanthropy and sustainability.
He will report to Michael Miebach, CEO of Mastercard, and will be a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
“Jon’s unique experience spanning four decades in the public and private sectors will be extremely valuable as we build Mastercard’s future,” said Miebach. “He will play a key role in helping to drive our approach to commercial sustainability through social impact, in line with our company’s core value of doing good by doing good.”
Jon Hunstman has served as the US ambassador to Singapore, China and Russia under both Republican and Democratic administrations. He is the only American to serve as Chief of Mission to both China and Russia. He was also twice elected Governor of Utah, where he served as President of the Western Governors Association.
Jon Huntsman previously served as an executive at Huntsman Corporation and most recently as Vice President of Ford Motor Company, where he currently serves on the board of directors. He also serves on Chevron’s board of directors.
Jon Huntsman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds 10 honorary doctorates.
