Nasdaq (NASDAQ:NDAQ) today announced the appointment of Roland Chai as President of European Market Services, effective January 1, 2024.

In this role, he will lead Nasdaq’s multi-asset trading, clearing, listing and market services across Europe, including the Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian exchanges .

Roland Chai has extensive experience in technology, risk management, trading and post-trade across multiple asset classes, as well as a deep relationship with investment communities and regulators worldwide.

He joined Nasdaq in 2020, serving as Chief Risk Officer and leading the development and review of Nasdaq’s global risk program. Starting in 2022, Mr. Chai will lead Nasdaq’s Marketplace Technology business, which includes technology solutions purpose-built to help improve the efficiency, resilience and trust of the financial ecosystem. It is one of the world’s largest providers of market infrastructure technology, serving more than 130 markets, CCPs, CSDs and regulators in more than 50 countries.

Prior to joining Nasdaq, he was Post-Trade Manager and Group Risk Officer at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, Head of Equities at LCH Ltd and began his career in software development.

Roland Chai will continue to be based in Stockholm and report to Tal Cohen, Co-Chairman, Nasdaq.
