The Canadian company Fintech Nuvei has today announced its membership in the European Payment Initiative (EPI), making one of the first payment service providers to allow e -commerce companies to accept EPI’s innovative digital wallet.

Wero is already facilitating instant accounts to accounts (A2A) using Instant Credit Sepa transfer protocols, allowing users to send money within 10 seconds through mobile numbers, email addresses or QR codes.

Created to unify Europe’s fragmented landscape and enhance economic sovereignty, Wero has already seen rapid adoption, attracting over 40 million users from initial launch in Germany, France and the client in late 2024.

Nuvei’s commercial customers will gain timely access to this rapidly expanded European payment solution through their existing integration into the Nuvei payment platform. While the pilot programs begin in May 2025, the general availability for traders is scheduled for September 2025.

Philip Fayer, President and CEO of Nuvei, commented:

“Europe is actively seeking greater sovereignty and consumer -based solutions and Wero is directly aimed at these strategic requirements, incorporating Wero on our platform early, strengthening our commercial partners to exploit emerging payments and providing our preferred payments.

Martina Weimert, CEO of EPI, added:

“Our partnership with Nuvei is a new key step towards expanding Wero in the field of e -commerce. By making Wero available to Nuvei’s extensive commercial networks, we accelerate the adoption of a truly European payment solution that enhances economic sovereignty, while providing a seamless, easy -to -end and innovative experience for consumer and primary experience.
