US broker Robinhood (NASDAQ:HOOD) has announced plans to expand into Canada, starting with a hiring expansion for Robinhood Canada in Toronto.
Most of the positions currently advertised on Robinhood Canada are in Engineering and Security. It remains unclear at this stage whether or not this is just an overseas talent hiring exercise for Robinhood or a first step to actually launching a service in Canada for Canadian traders and investors sometime in the near future.
In late 2023, Robinhood reported that international expansion outside the US was a key priority moving forward. Robinhood launched in the UK in late 2023, as well as in the EU with crypto trading.

The company notes that it has already welcomed new developers to its growing team in Canada. In 2024, Robinhood Canada plans to significantly focus its recruiting efforts to expand its footprint in Toronto.
