Exclusive FNG interview… We are pleased to speak today with Steve Whittet, Head of Institutional Sales at Taurex Prime about the launch of the business in a very competitive liquidity and prime brokerage environment.

FNG: Hi Steve, and thanks for joining us today. Offer extensive experience in institutional sales in the FX and CFD industry. How does this background shape your vision and approach to Taurex Prime?

Steve: Having spent years working directly with institutional clients, I’ve learned that success in this field comes from truly understanding what each client values, not just what we want to sell. My approach to Taurex Prime is consultative by design. We take the time to understand each client’s investment thesis, their operational constraints and where they want to grow. This understanding allows us to build custom solutions rather than fit them into a standard mold. The goal is to create partnerships that will truly advance their business, not just process transactions.

FNG: Can you walk us through the institutional offering of Taurex Prime and the strategic decision to expand into liquidity and prime brokerage under the Taurex brand?

Steve: Our institutional offering focuses on three things: high performance execution, reliable technology and dedicated support. We serve brokers, hedge funds and professional traders with infrastructures that really perform under pressure.

In particular, we provide low-latency FIX and MetaTrader API connectivity for instant market access, customized liquidity solutions aligned to specific trading strategies, and comprehensive risk management tools. For brokers who qualify, we also offer free access to the Your Bourse technology suite—matching engines and liquidity bridges—which gives them institutional-grade infrastructure without the big investment.

The strategic expansion into liquidity and prime brokerage under Taurex made sense for obvious reasons. First, we already had the liquidity infrastructure and brand credibility. Second, we have identified a real market opportunity in regions such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and MENA. These markets have sophisticated institutional players that need world-class infrastructure, but are underserved by global competitors. There is also a growing demand for transparency and speed of execution in complex regulatory environments, which align perfectly with what we are built to deliver.

FNG: What types of institutional clients do you focus on and how do you tailor solutions to meet the needs of each client?

Steve: We focus on four main sectors: brokers, hedge funds, high net worth individuals and investment managers. Each operates with different goals — a broker seeks to efficiently serve its clients, while a hedge fund seeks to generate alpha. Their needs diverge significantly between liquidity requirements, risk tolerance and regulatory constraints.

Adaptation is fundamental to the way we work. We do not implement template solutions. Instead, we assess each customer’s specific operating model, trading patterns and infrastructure requirements, and then build from there. One client may need multi-asset liquidity, another focuses exclusively on FX but needs excellent latency. We adjust accordingly.

FNG: What do you see as the biggest challenge facing institutional clients today in terms of accessing and optimizing liquidity and how is Taurex Prime positioned to address it?

Steve: The key challenge is market fragmentation coupled with capital inefficiency. Liquidity is dispersed across multiple locations and counterparties, forcing institutions to manage complex consolidations just to achieve adequate execution. This fragmentation means they often pay more than necessary and miss out on better pricing opportunities.

We address this through three mechanisms. First, we consolidate multiple sources of liquidity into a unified offering, reducing the complexity they must manage. Second, our low-latency infrastructure and direct market access ensure they enjoy genuine optimal execution, not brokered pricing. Third, and perhaps most importantly, we maintain ongoing relationships where we actively help clients optimize their execution strategies. This consultative partnership is what really differentiates us from transaction providers.

FNG: The prop trading model is gaining momentum globally. How is Taurex Prime adapting its services to support this trend and what customer demands are you seeing?

Steve: Proprietary trading is fundamentally reshaping institutional demand. Support firms operate on different parameters than traditional hedge funds — they require highly reliable infrastructure, transparent earnings performance and sophisticated risk controls designed for their specific operating model.

We are adapting by expanding our Atmos platform with enhanced tools for commodity traders, enhancing our liquidity and execution infrastructure for higher volume strategies, and developing dedicated risk management models calibrated specifically for promoter trading environments. We also offer transparent profit sharing mechanisms and comprehensive reporting – things that traders are increasingly asking for.

The feedback we get is consistent: they want reliable platforms like MT4 and MT5, institutional-grade risk management tools, multi-asset capability and above all operational security and compliance. They are sophisticated in their infrastructure requirements and are willing to invest in providers that truly meet those needs.

FNG: Regulations, technology and customer expectations are all changing rapidly. What trends do you see in institutional demand for liquidity and how does Taurex Prime stay ahead of them?

Steve: Many trends are converging. First, transparency is non-negotiable—clients want real visibility into execution quality, pricing mechanisms and risk exposure. Second, regulatory frameworks are becoming more stringent globally, which means compliance and surveillance capabilities are moving from differentiators to core. Third, there is a clear shift towards sophisticated, customized solutions rather than standard offerings.

We position ourselves by investing in technology that anticipates these requirements. We create advanced risk models for emerging market segments such as prop trading, developing institutional compliance and oversight capabilities, and creating scalable infrastructure that can adapt as regulatory landscapes evolve. It’s about being proactive, not reactive—creating systems that are robust enough to handle what’s coming, without scrambling after regulatory changes.

FNG: Finally, what is your long-term vision for Taurex Prime’s role in the institutional liquidity ecosystem and how do you see the nature of your partnerships evolving over the next few years?

Steve: My vision is simple: I position Taurex Prime as the infrastructure partner of choice for institutional clients who demand both sophistication and genuine collaboration. We are investing significantly in technology to expand our capabilities across multiple assets, improve our execution infrastructure, and develop next-generation risk management and reporting tools.

We are also thinking about partnerships. We can’t be everything to everyone, nor should we try. The partnerships that matter are those that align with our commitment to customer success. We are building deeper integrations with leading trading platforms and bridge providers, which creates greater flexibility and choice for our clients while strengthening our overall ecosystem. These partnerships are strategic, not transactional.

In the coming years, I want Taurex Prime to be recognized as a partner that understands institutional requirements in depth and consistently delivers solutions that advance their business.
