The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CYC) has found that certain individuals are illegally using the personal information of persons registered in the Certification Registers and/or in the announcements of the results of the certification examinations, with the aim of exploiting and deceiving members of the public.
In exercising its responsibilities for the protection of investors and ensuring the orderly functioning of the capital market, YKK announces that it has temporarily suspended the publication of the Certification Registers and the announcements of the results of the certification examinations on its website.
YKK emphasizes that the acquisition of certification is a condition for the employment of natural persons in supervised entities that provide financial services, in accordance with the Directive on the Certification of Persons and Certification Registers (Regulatory Administrative Act 44/2019).
The regulatory authority urges investors, in any communication with third parties regarding investment activities, to verify in advance the entity for which the person communicating with them works and to confirm whether this entity is registered on the website of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission or with another competent supervisory authority.
In addition, CySEC advises the public to be extremely careful when sharing personal information with third parties and, under no circumstances, to make payments before confirming the identity of the entity they intend to transact with.
