The Turkish central bank has granted Garanti BBVA an operating license for its new subsidiary, Garanti Payment and Electronic Money Service, Inc., effective February 15, 2024.
The innovative new company will start offering a select group of customers a beta version of its TAMİ-branded digital payment solutions in March.
TAMİ will enable almost every business in Turkey to receive and track payments easily and offer its customers from all banks the convenience of paying in installments. With a fully digital payment experience, TAMİ provides solutions that meet the needs of customers and businesses of all sizes.
In addition, the payment infrastructure that TAMİ has created makes it possible to develop customized products and services for a wide range of users – from SMEs to parents, students and families. Customers will be able to withdraw cash, send money and use their cards or e-wallets to shop, earn cash back or sign up for a prepaid card directly at a POS terminal.
Murat Çağrı Süzer, Executive Vice President of Garanti BBVA and Chairman of the Board of Garanti Payment and Electronic Money Services Inc., emphasized that technology and digitalization are rapidly transforming payment systems and with them, the needs and expectations of both customers and and traders. He explained that TAMİ is the result of two years of extensive research.
As a result, we have developed an infrastructure where we will introduce the payment technologies that our customers really want with a focus on speed, simplicity and convenience, facilitating digital payments and creating added value for our customers.
