Western Union, in coordination with processing partner Orbit SA, announced today the resumption of service from the United States to Cuba, effective immediately.
With service restored, Western Union customers can now send money from any US retail location, WesternUnion.com or the Western mobile app to immediate family in Cuba with bank accounts and debit cards at the following banks in Cuba: Banco Popular de Ahorro, Banco Metropolitano SA and Banco de Credito y Comercio (Bandec).
Funds can only be withdrawn to bank accounts and debit cards. The service is limited to consumer money transfers only. United States customers can pay up to USD 2,000.00 per transaction by presenting a valid government-issued ID.
Funds will be available for pickup on the same day, including weekends and holidays.
The service is available to recipients with Carnet de Identidad identifiers and bank and/or debit card accounts at the following banks in Cuba: Banco Popular de Ahorro, Banco Metropolitano SA and Banco de Credito y Comercio (Bandec).
Deposits in freely convertible currency (MLC) accounts are available in US dollars only.
